High School Student of the Week

The Student of the Week is Megan Gray.

There is no one I am more proud of than Megan.  She has shown that hard work and dedication pays off.  In track this year she has always done whatever she has been asked to do without complaint or hesitation.  She puts a tremendous amount of effort into becoming the best athlete she can be.  She is winding up a great freshman year and has played a big role in every sport.  We are expecting a big year from her next year and in the years to come.

Great job, Megan!!

The Student of the Week is Yovani Palacios.

Yovani has done an outstanding job this year.  He is always polite and very respectful.  Yovani has done a great job balancing his classroom responsibilities with his extra-curricular activities.  Thanks Yovani for all your hard work and dedication.

The Student of the Week is Sergio Hipolito.

Sergio is a true team player; he is always willing to put the team before himself.  This year he was not sure if he wanted to play baseball or not but he chose to do so, so that his classmates would have enough players to fill the team.  He has played a huge role in the success the baseball program is having.  He had the same positive attitude in football and basketball.  Sergio is a leader in the High School and a great role model for all Panther fans.  He volunteers his time in the Eastland County Youth soccer league so that he can share his passion for soccer with the younger generations.  He works hard in the classroom and he has prepared himself for success in college.  Sergio your positive attitude will be missed next year!!!

The Student of the Week is Viri Maldonado.

Viri always completes everything to its fullest potential, from her homework to her projects, to her presentations.  She also works part-time after school, sometimes until 11:00 at night on weekdays, but she still manages to turn in her work on time and get excellent grades, no excuses.  She plays the piano at church in their family band.  She also came out of her comfort zone and tried out for cheerleader and will be the only Senior Cheerleader next year.  Congratulations, Viridiana.  Keep up the excellent work!

Congratulations Jasmeen DelaTorre.

Jasmeen always has a smile on her face and comes to class prepared to learn.  She is willing to help out in any way she can to make the Band better.  Jasmeen is also a great flute player.  I am very proud Jasmeen chose to be in the Band.  She has made a difference.  With the attitude and commitment Jasmeen has, she will be able to accomplish whatever she chooses.

Congratulations Jessica Ledford

Jessica has tried really hard to follow all the rules during Mrs. Scitern’s class.  She is respectful to the teachers and likes to help out as much as possible.  Jessica has done an excellent job working in the cafeteria, I’m sure the ladies appreciate all her hard work and dedication.  She is completing her class assignments and making good grades.  Thank you, Jessica, for being a wonderful student!

Congratulations Luis Limon

Luis has had perfect attendance in my class for the whole school year and has also maintained an A average in his US History college class.  Luis always has his work turned in by the due date and is prepared for his weekly quizzes.  Luis is a very serious student, but he likes to have fun at the same time, participating in several extra-curricular activities.  He is a member of the Gorman High School Fighting Panther playoff football team and the Bi-District champion basketball team; he is one of the managers for the baseball team and is participating in the UIL One-Act-Play.  Luis is planning on taking Gorman to the Academic State UIL meet again this year after seeing, as a guest, first hand last year what it was like.  Luis has set his bar very high, both personally and academically; we may be looking at the first President of the United States from Gorman, Texas!

Congratulations Matt Fox

Matt is a steady student who tries to do his best at whatever he does.  He usually turns in his work on time, he has a great attendance record, and will try to do whatever you ask of him.  He has a “can do” attitude that will take him to where he wants to go in life.  Matt is usually cheerful and upbeat and he tries to make other people feel better when they are down.  He is an overall good athlete, student, and young man.

Congratulations Karla Lara

Karla is a beautiful young woman who is very conscientious about her grades and always strives to do her very best in the classroom.  And she does all this willingly, without complaint.  She is wise enough to know when she needs to ask questions, and when she needs to come to tutorials to take care of any business that needs attended to.  Therefore she is always on top of her grades and not having any “last minute worries”.  She is a great example for the younger students to follow.  Perhaps if we all had her sense of responsibility and commitment to our education, then we could rest as easily as she does in that last fateful week of the six weeks.  Congratulations, Karla, I admire you!

Congratulations Rachel Tucker

Rachel is an active student at Gorman I.S.D., and a great role model for the younger students.  She is very respectful to others and can help brighten your day with her smile.  Her hard work and leadership show not only in the classroom, but also in athletics.  Rachel has a great determination that will help her get far in life.  Keep up the great work Rachel!

Congratulations Cortney Shirley

For Student of the Week I choose … Cortney Shirley.

Cortney seems to be a decent young lady with a pretty good personality.  She’s usually smiling unless she just woke up or she’s mad about something.  I’ve never had her in class, so I can’t speak for her about that, but she does a great job in athletics and all the sports she participates in.  Cortney is a good church going Christian girl and is an outstanding member of our school and community, and her Granny is pretty nice also.  It is for these reasons that I chose the Magnificent, Charming, Witty, and sometimes Beautiful Cortney Shirley for Student of the Week.

Congratulations Jon Fenley

Jon is not a jerk, he is a Champ!  If everyone in the world had Jon Fenley’s positive attitude, it would be a better place to live.  Jon has been a great leader this year in football and basketball and I am sure he will carry that on into baseball.  He is a perfect roll model for all of the young Panthers coming up, and has been a special roll model for my own son.  I am always impressed at how he can relate to anyone…young, middle-aged, or senior citizen alike.  He devotes a lot of time to the youth programs in our community, and is always willing to do anything to help someone.  Thanks for all your hard work Big Daddy, keep it up!!!

Tyler has really been impressive this year with his positive attitude and willingness to work hard at his schoolwork.  This year Tyler has committed to strive to do his very best and to not let others bring him down.  He has had some ups and downs in the past, but he has put all that behind him and his attitude and work ethic this year have been great.   Tyler also shows pride in his school, he has joined the football team, and is doing great things on the field. He is a welcome addition to the Panther team.  He shows leadership and I appreciate all his hard work this year. Tyler exemplifies “movement over monument” and I want to congratulate him for that.

Congratulations CoCo Keeping.

She has a bubbly personality and always has a smile to brighten your day.  She is careful to keep up with her assignments and is willing to help other students.  CoCo is a budding thespian who will attempt any role assigned.  She is a pleasure to teach and will excel at anything she sets her mind to.

Congratulations Holly Wood

Miss Holly Wood is an amazing young lady.  She is a super sophomore that brightens every ones day because she is a ray of sunshine and good Christian girl.  She has incredibly amazing talents in volleyball and is an academic phenom in the classroom. She makes everyone smile around her with her wit and humor and her super model good looks.  I look forward to seeing Holly everyday in my class because she is just that awesome.  She always puts a smile on my face especially when she asks me for money or to heat up a hot pocket for lunch. It is for these reasons that I chose Holly Wood for the student of the week.

B.J. is a leader in every way. He leads by example by the way he works.  He leads in the way he encourages and gives advice to his teammates and classmates, especially the younger guys.  He leads by his effort both on the field and off.  He is a guy who is really fun to not only coach, but he is also fun to have in class.  He is attentive and dependable, always completing his assignments, both on the field and in the classroom.  He has a heart as big as Texas, and sets a great example for all of our future Panthers.
